Hot on the heels of another successful “Creations for Charity 24 Hour Live Stream Presented by Beyond the Brick” event this year, it was an incredible honor for me to be able to serve as a Creations for Charity distribution coordinator for the first time.
After rounding up some LEGO sets (purchased on discount to maximize the amount of LEGO given per dollar spent of course) and receiving two very generous donations from both BrickLoot and The LEGO Group; quite an impressive assortment of products for donation was amassed. All tallied up, the total retail value of these LEGO sets would be $3,439.89 USD. Wow!
I chose to donate these sets to the WakeMed Foundation. The foundation is the charitable arm of WakeMed Health & Hospitals, an operator of numerous hospitals here in the Raleigh, NC area. The WakeMed Foundation will give these LEGO sets to hospitalized children so that they can enjoy some lighthearted play while receiving treatment. Without a doubt these LEGO sets will bring smiles to the faces of many children.
A huge thank you to everyone that contributed to and was involved with Creations for Charity this year! I am continually amazed by the ability of Creations for Charity to leverage the power of the LEGO community for such a worthy cause – bringing joy and happiness to children during the holiday season.
Merry Christmas!
